Pregnancy, labor, and birth put a lot of strain on a woman's body, and postpartum recovery can be a challenging time. That's why postpartum massage is a great way to help your body recover during the so-called "fourth trimester." Postpartum massage can alleviate a whole range of issues, such as swelling and preeclampsia/eclampsia. When you come in for a postpartum massage, your therapist will ask you about your delivery: how long labor was, what position you were in when you delivered, and if you had a C-section. As we begin to turn the final corner of Spring and head into Summer, I am feeling the excitement of this time of year. Flowers blooming, garden beds producing, trips being planned, bodies moving to get fit, not to mention the freedom of in-person gatherings after a rocky two years. It is very exciting! But as they say, too much of anything is not a good thing. In this case, a lot of up-up-up energy draws us out of our feet, resulting in tension and pressure in our chests, shoulders, neck and head.
