What is bamboo massage?

Heated bamboo rod massage, also known simply as bamboo massage, is a type of massage therapy that utilizes warmed bamboo sticks or rods of varying lengths and diameters to perform various massage techniques on the body. This technique combines the benefits of heat therapy with the deep tissue manipulation of massage to provide relaxation, relief from tension, and other therapeutic benefits. Here's a breakdown of how a heated bamboo rod massage typically works: Preparation: The massage therapist will typically warm the bamboo rods in a heating pad or water bath to a comfortable temperature before the session begins. Post Op Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialized massage technique that is designed to stimulate the flow of lymph, a clear fluid that carries white blood cells and waste products away from the tissues and back toward the heart. Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialized massage technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system and promote the natural drainage of lymph fluid from the body's tissues. The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in maintaining the body's fluid balance, filtering toxins, and supporting the immune system. The lymphatic system consists of lymph vessels, lymph nodes, and lymphatic organs. Lymph fluid, which contains waste products, cellular debris, and pathogens, circulates through this system. However, unlike the circulatory system with a pump (the heart), the lymphatic system relies on muscle contractions and movements, and breathwork for lymph fluid circulation. Tinna Burkhart is trained in Vodder technique. This is performed using gentle, rhythmic, and repetitive movements using her hands to manually guide the lymph fluid to the lymph nodes,...

What is a postpartum massage?

Pregnancy, labor, and birth put a lot of strain on a woman's body, and postpartum recovery can be a challenging time. That's why postpartum massage is a great way to help your body recover during the so-called "fourth trimester." When you come in for a postpartum massage, your therapist will ask you about your delivery: how long labor was, what position you were in when you delivered, and if you had a C-section. They will also ask if you are breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, and where your baby sleeps. This information is critical in order to provide you with the best massage possible. Postpartum massage can help with aches and pains, swelling, blood pressure,...

Hellerwork Spring 2022

As we begin to turn the final corner of Spring and head into Summer, I am feeling the excitement of this time of year. Flowers blooming, garden beds producing, trips being planned, bodies moving to get fit, not to mention the freedom of in-person gatherings after a rocky two years. It is very exciting! But as they say, too much of anything is not a good thing. In this case, a lot of up-up-up energy draws us out of our feet, resulting in tension and pressure in our chests, shoulders, neck and head. Our “tension areas” start acting up, beckoning us to slow down, take a rest, listen to the body, and return to a state of balance. More often than not, my table continues...
