Hellerwork Spring 2022
As we begin to turn the final corner of Spring and head into Summer, I am feeling the excitement of this time of year. Flowers blooming, garden beds producing, trips being planned, bodies moving to get fit, not to mention the freedom of in-person gatherings after a rocky two years.
It is very exciting! But as they say, too much of anything is not a good thing. In this case, a lot of up-up-up energy draws us out of our feet, resulting in tension and pressure in our chests, shoulders, neck and head. Our “tension areas” start acting up, beckoning us to slow down, take a rest, listen to the body, and return to a state of balance.
More often than not, my table continues to be a space for people to radically unwind the challenging energies that have accumulated in their bodies.
My work specializes in bringing the body’s nervous system to a state of balance. Many of you have experienced a deep sense of relaxation and ease on my table, which I like to call, “the healing zone.” This is where your body is recruiting its natural healing capabilities to bring your entire system into a greater state of balance and ease. This is why many of you have felt very significant changes in a session which do not necessarily have to do with where I actually touched you. The effects are much deeper.
It is the magic of bodywork.
I am now even more equipped with bodywork techniques to release your tension in a more effective way since my most recent advanced training in mid May. I studied under two highly trained bodywork practitioners — Jon Martine and Ron Murray — for four days (about 28 hours of lectures and hands-on learning) in rural Kansas. We studied the torso and spine in depth, focusing on the connections between the fascial (connective tissue) layers as related to the nerves and organs. These techniques are a whole-system approach and are highly effective for reducing tension and stress in the body and system at large.
Even in these past few weeks working with clients, I am already noticing a positive difference in their responses to my touch now that it is getting more refined. Tissue is softening quicker and easier. The breath is getting deeper with more ease. The body’s structure is becoming more stable and balanced.
One of my regular clients said, “I can tell you have up-leveled.”
Thank you for trusting me with your most prized possession — your body. For every client who arrives on my table, it is an honor and a privilege to work with you.
I look forward to seeing you again soon!
Happy Days,
Theresa Elwell, LMT, CHP
P.S. Keep a look out for my new offering coming in June — a 60 minute Hellerwork SI session. For those of you who can’t easily spare 90 minutes, this is for you!
