Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialized massage technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system and promote the natural drainage of lymph fluid from the body's tissues. The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in maintaining the body's fluid balance, filtering toxins, and supporting the immune system. The lymphatic system consists of lymph vessels, lymph nodes, and lymphatic organs. Lymph fluid, which contains waste products, cellular debris, and pathogens, circulates through this system. However, unlike the circulatory system with a pump (the heart), the lymphatic system relies on muscle contractions and movements, and breathwork for lymph fluid circulation. Tinna Burkhart is trained in Vodder technique. This is performed using gentle, rhythmic, and repetitive movements using her hands to manually guide the lymph fluid to the lymph nodes,...

What is a postpartum massage?

Pregnancy, labor, and birth put a lot of strain on a woman's body, and postpartum recovery can be a challenging time. That's why postpartum massage is a great way to help your body recover during the so-called "fourth trimester." Postpartum massage can alleviate a whole range of issues, such as swelling and preeclampsia/eclampsia. Postpartum massage can help with aches and pains, swelling, blood pressure,...

Deciding to start a family is an exciting, but nerve racking process.  Will I be a good parent?  What if something goes wrong?  Add to that the additional stress of trying to conceive and you have a recipe for disaster.  Often just the removal of these stress factors is enough to allow for a smooth conception, pregnancy, and birth in most cases.  However, there are also many women and, yes, men that suffer from infertility which often leads to treatments such as IUI, IVF, or other ART treatments which can be costly and a bit clinical increasing stress levels even more. What if there was another option?  Imagine walking into a warm and comforting office with soft lighting and relaxing music...

Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is an ancient healing tradition that uses your body's natural healing ability to correct inbalances and heal trauma. Your Acupuncturist will act as a supervisor to direct the healing process. Treatment involves the painless insertion of extremely fine, sterile needles into specific Acupuncture points to influence the flow of qi and blood and bring the body back into homeostasis. Acupuncture focuses on the body as whole, correlating information from all body systems, signs and symptoms to discover the root of the problem and as such can be used to treat a wide variety of ailments. This is also why patients will notice that all their issues start to resolve with treatment not just what they are coming in for. Can Acupuncture Help With Infertility? Yes....

Hellerwork Spring 2022

As we begin to turn the final corner of Spring and head into Summer, I am feeling the excitement of this time of year. Flowers blooming, garden beds producing, trips being planned, bodies moving to get fit, not to mention the freedom of in-person gatherings after a rocky two years. It is very exciting! But as they say, too much of anything is not a good thing. In this case, a lot of up-up-up energy draws us out of our feet, resulting in tension and pressure in our chests, shoulders, neck and head. Our “tension areas” start acting up, beckoning us to slow down, take a rest, listen to the body, and return to a state of balance. More often than not, my table continues...
