Qigong with Tinna

Qigong is a wellness practice that originated from China. It is a practice that trains the body and mind to work congruously with a specific set of movements in order to cultivate qi (chee) or prana. Qi travels throughout energy channels in our bodies known as the meridian system. Cultivating chi in the body will effect us on a physiological and psychological level. Our breath affects every part of our being. When we learn to combine our breath with movement; we move the blood and lymph as well.

Benefits of Qigong include:

  • Regulates breath
  • Calms the nervous system
  • Transforms tension
  • Aids digestion
  • Improve blood and lymph circulation
  • Lowers blood pressure

Initial Qigong series start with a two hour introduction necessary to learn the series of 18 movements. These movements can be practiced by anyone at any age, and if necessary, can be practiced in a chair making it accessible for many.  You will learn specific warms ups and movements that you will be able to replicate at home as your private practice grows. Follow up sessions are available for refinement, individual movement reviews, and assistance with your free flowing home practice.

Comfortable clothing is recommended as this is a light movement class. We do also ask you bring a yoga mat, writing utensil and bottle of water. Shoes will be removed. Class will start with a meditation before moving into warm ups, form instruction and then a closing meditation.

Qigong has been practiced for over 5,000 years and helps your body harmonize qi. As one of the five branches in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qigong fits into every lifestyle and is a great addition to your current health regimen.
